Crackdown 3 technical multiplayer testing begins tomorrow for PC. This is the first time the public will get their hands on the game since there have been several delays during development. So if you have access and want to get your hands on the game, this is your chance.
You must be an Xbox Insider if you want to participate. As a PC or Xbox One player, you’ll need to sign up and download the Xbox Insider Hub app. Once you’re done with that, you’ll be able to download and install the game starting at 9:00am PST. Tomorrow, there will be two testing phases. The first will run from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST, and the second will run from 7:00 p.m. PST to 9:00 p.m. PST.
This new test, which focuses primarily on server stability and the netcode aspects of multiplayer, is called the Wrecking Zone Technical Test. And no, the name doesn’t seem to have much meaning about the content of the test. There will be a game mode called Agent Hunter. Players will have to hunt down and kill the opposing team, collecting kill markers along the way. Turning in these markers will validate the points for each kill. Players can even prevent the opposing team from scoring points by collecting the markers for their eliminated teammates.
To be clear, this is not a beta, but a technical test. Microsoft wants to put pressure on the multiplayer servers and other architecture before the full launch of Crackdown 3 to make sure they are stable on launch day. Don’t expect the game to be as polished as it would be in an open beta or other early access phase. There will inevitably be connectivity issues and delays.
So if you do manage to participate in the test, we hope you have fun and enjoy the game.
Crackdown 3 will be released on February 15 for PC and Xbox One.
